Meet the team: Department of Education sector strengthening project

We are proud to announce we have the opportunity to work with our community, to understand what our community needs to establish and maintain self-sufficient Aboriginal service providers so that our kids can be school ready to go on and achieve the best they can.

We are 100% Aboriginal owned and operated business based on Awabakal country, and we specialise in Aboriginal education and community empowerment. We are passionate about community consultation being done right and for this project we will consult with the  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ECEC providers in NSW (7 long day care providers and 29 pre-school providers) and produce a report reflective of the findings from this engagement regarding sector-strengthening services wanted and needed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ECEC providers in NSW.

Services have been allocated project officers based on regions as consultations will be done in clusters over the next few weeks.

Uncle John Lester will visit:

1. Northern region: Jarjum Bungal Nah Childcare & Family Centre, Gummyaney Aboriginal Pre-School, Jarjum Centre Preschool Inc and Ngallingnee Jarjum Tabulam Preschool 
2. Riverina- West: Koori Kindermanna Pre-School, Gyndarna Preschool, Griffith Wiradjuri Aboriginal Pre-School and Murrin Bridge Preschool

1. Western: Collarenebri Preschool Inc, Gainmara Birrilee Pre-School, Goodooga Pre-School, Koolyangarra Pre-School, Kiah Pre-School, Walanbaa Dhurrali Aboriginal Child + Family Centre and Nanima Pre-School.
2. Hunter: Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Land Council Preschool, Awabakal Pre-School Wickham and Awabakal Pre-School Glendale
3. Sydney: Narang Muru Aboriginal Corporation, Waranwarin Early Learning Centre, Wunanbiri Pre-School and Yenu Allowah Aboriginal Child + Family Centre.

 Cherie Johnson will visit:

1. Southern: Cullunghutti Early Learning Centre, Cullunghutti Preschool, Boori Preschool, Noogaleek Children's Centre and Little Yuin Aboriginal Day Care Centre. 
2. Mid North Coast: Girrawong Pre-School, Dalaigur Pre-School, Scribbly Gum Dalai, Kulai Pre-School and Giiguy Gamambi Pre-School. 
3. New England: Minimbah Preschool, Winanga-Li Early Learning & Care Service and Winanga-Li Aboriginal Child and Family Centre. 

Kiah Larrigo will be on hand to keep the project running smoothly from our office on Awabakal Country.
